Advertisement touts Better Than Quinine as a speedy cure for cold symptoms and La Grippe. It claims relief from headache fever congestion and stuffiness after one or two doses and promotes it as a preventive. Box 20c.
The Clinton council met with most members present and approved past minutes, paid bills for street, fire, and printing needs, and referred several others. A curfew ordinance passed. paving plans and a Ninth street sewer extension were discussed. Local residents Florida, Nashville, and Mt. Vernon were noted with short visits and business trips mentioned.
The Clinton mine committee led by Hughie Mackie and Joe Brock with Atty F R Miller traveled to Indianapolis to appeal to grievance committees Nos 8 and 11 for widows and orphans of the Der ing mine No 7 disaster that occurred January 14 1907. They secured donations from the U M W A convention and Clinton district, urged mining law reforms, and pressed for a state mine inspector investigation while noting starving children in bereaved homes.

Nose bitten off in Crown Hill No 3 when a drunk man argued with a restaurant clerk. The assailant fought back and was struck by the clerk who bit off his nose during the altercation early Monday morning.
The United Mine Workers of America national body sends 1000 dollars for Mine No. 7 disaster relief. Indiana miners convention delegates add 500 dollars in Indianapolis bringing total aid to 1500 dollars. Mrs Mont Slater of Colorado Springs reports illness but is improving per a recent letter.
The Griffith Evans estate of Wales is said to total 60 million dollars. The Evans family is examining the matter. A portion of the fortune is expected to go to Wylie Evans of this city.
Coroner Robert J. Hasty and deputy coroner Robert E. Guinn conducted an investigation yesterday into the Willow Grove mine explosion that killed two workers. No decision on a cause had been made as this edition went to press.
Tracks have been taken from the interurban depot and laid along the building exterior to create additional space. The move aims to reconfigure the depot area and improve access for operations and passenger flow.
In a Willow Grove mine dust explosion Tuesday night killed two regular shooters, Mike Lyski and John Puska. Fellow workers, including Chas Davidson and witnesses like Olie Larson, rushed to the shaft as Lyski and Puska were recovered. Lyski died, Puska died later in Frist's morgue after efforts to revive him. Funeral services held Wednesday afternoon.
