Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon at Trinity Church for Ammon Ammunition who was killed in action on July 20 in France. ALS O T others offered brief messages and church leaders spoke about upcoming Mission Week activities at the Baptist Church in Meridian. Classes on Mission Books will begin at 8 p.m. with age-grouped sessions for all family members. the public is invited.
FFA boys will collect waste paper for a school project. They will gather at 0 oclock and ask all to have paper ready for pickup. Residents out of town are asked to bring paper to town on Saturday and place it in a trailer in front of the barn.

Meridian citizens lead Bosque County blood donor volunteers with 260 signups as Clifton trails by 24. Local chairman Mrs. Chris tenson reports Clifton totals roughly 226 while Meridian tops with 260 ahead of Fort Worth unit visits. Shirley B. Tubbs, 19, from Moline, Texas, earned silver pilot wings after RAF Training Command, completing the AT 24 course.
Sgt William Louis Outlaw, son of Mr and Mrs William Outlaw of Clifton Texas, returns to Atlanta Georgia after more than two years of combat service in the Pacific. He arrives for shore leave and a 30 day furlough as Southern Procurement Division announces. He is awaiting reassignment and furlough at the Marine station.
Funeral services were held for Judge Philip Smith Hale at his Meridian home on Tuesday evening September 12, 1944, conducted by Rev. B L McCord and Rev J M Jonsan. Interment followed in Meridian Cemetery under Meridian Lodge No 268 A and A Masons. Judge Hale died at his home September 11, 1944, at 8:20 PM at age 76 years 10 months 17 days. He was born November 24, 1867 in Church Hill Tennessee and taught in Texas before moving to Bosque County and then Meridian where he practiced law and served in local offices.
