Local board closes for half days next week due to workload. The Selective Service Office will be open to the public only in the mornings from 8 am to 12 noon during the week of September 2006. Personal calls requested for bond drive coordination.

Commencement exercises for eighteen senior class members at John Tarleton Agricultural College Stephenville will be held in the College Auditorium Friday evening September 27 1848 at 830. Rev Hayden Edwards Fort Worth former Clifton Methodist Church pastor will give the address. Miss Antonette Lee Domstad Grantius Guy senior class member majored Elementary Education and has been chosen to teach in Brudaghoo.
Pfc Murzel Elder of the Army Flying School at Aviarilto Texas reports winning first place in a recent physical fitness test. He tied or exceeded others in the Sit Up exercise, performed twenty chinups, and ran three hundred yards in forty eight seconds.
J.8 Early of Clifton reports his grandson John J. Roviscke Ch. of the United States Marine Corps is now in New Zealand and listed as seriously ill at a new camp in Laeune, North Carolina.
The Liena Club met at noon Tuesday with guests H, T Potten, CH Hoel and Mrs. Nor connected to the Public Relations Department of Community Public Service Company.
The Basque County men Jaye Loule Stockard Weldon A. Standefer Robert L. Boone Beburn J. Chappell have been accepted by recruiting and inducting stations in recent days. The list shows service branches including Navy Army Air Corps and Marine Corps as part of the ongoing induction effort.
Walter T. Gigstad Jr. buried Sept. 10 after death in a September 5 airplane crash near Warnensburg Missouri. Services at Trinity Lutheran Fort Worth and Clifton churches, with prayers and memorial gifts planned for Girls’ Dormitory and church missions.
The PT A will hold its first meeting next Wednesday September 22 1043 at 3 15 in the school cafeteria. Parents are urged to attend this meeting.
War bond sales in Bosque county totalled 15451625 during the Third War Loan drive, about 30 percent of the county quota of 5070000. Readouts by community chairs show varied sums such as Meridian 31085.25 and Valley Mills 21500.00, with an incomplete late report totaling 184586.25.
Jack Hill and William Stringfellow, home on furlough from the Marine Corps, have made enviable marksman records. They are schedule to train at California headquarters and may become special instructors to share lifetime rifle skills with men in training.

The W. E. Mitchell family, including Mrs Mitchell and children Bobbie Billie James Victor, moved from Cranfilly Gap to Clifton last week. They reside near Trinity Lutheran Church in a Show house. Mrs Mitchell, formerly a Clifton Public employee, joins Henry K. Cooper’s confectionary cafe, to be renamed The Mitchell Cafe, continuing the business formerly in Cranfilly Gap. Clifton residents welcome the movers as new community members.
The Maagesing Club of Clifton Texas will hold its first meeting of the year on Tuesday September 21 at three o clock at the home of Mrs Hector R Hill. Members are to answer roll call with the name of their favorite American author.
