Louis Baker, a stockman in Brady Texas, had his right third finger torn off when roping a four year old steer. The steer lunged, the rope snapped the finger at the first joint, and Baker could not reach a surgeon in time to attempt reattachment.
Two wives named Mrs. J W Russell on the same western train received a misdelivered telegram intended for the other. One followed the message to a private boarding house, believing it from her husband, while the other rode on to Houston.
