City considers tax rise to restore reserve funds
The city notes it already carries the highest debt for its size and must rebuild a $95,710 replacement reserve as lower sales tax receipts reduce revenue. Mayor Volcansek and council members acknowledge no one welcomes a tax increase but agree it is needed to fund yearly vehicle, fire truck, and sewer plant pump replacements. The budget shows income of $3,161,741, expenditures $2,472,653, debt service $533,000, and an unallocated $60,378.
