Milton A Dahl of Clifton, son of Mr and Mrs Axel O Dahl of Clifton, was killed in action in England on August 18 while serving with an Eighth Fighter Command unit. He attended Clifton High School, Gliton Jr College and the University of Texas before joining the Army Air Forces. He was a lieutenant and a member of the 8th Fighter Command, with missions over occupied Europe. The War Department telegram expressed regret and conveyed the Secretary of War’s message.

Sergeant Raymond C. Amundson, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Amundson of Cuiflon Texas, is a metalworker at the command station in England. The unit set a new Eighth Fighter Command record by flying combat missions within eleven days of arrival. Amundson entered the Army in March 1943.
William T. Dixon son of Mrs. Jo Ann Dixon of Clifton Texas was awarded the Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster for the Air Medal by 16th Army Air Force Headquarters. The staff sergeant, a 4 gunner with the 9th AAP Liberator squadron, has flown combat missions over Ploesti Vienna Steyr Toulon and other German targets in southern Europe. Dixon, a Comanche High School graduate, enlisted May 12 1943 after aerial gunnery school at Tyndall Field Florida and is stationed overseas with the 15th Air Force.
Bosque County youths are reported as having been accepted for service. The names listed include W. Lambert Jackson, ML Hendricken, B. Paulson, Alva M. Paubon, Ban M, and Loyd McMullen.
Mr W B Reetee former resident of the Nore eurmustry died in Houston last Friday September 1 and was buried there the next day. Mrs George Wallace of Clifton and Mina Willie Mae Wallace Jonesboro attended the funeral. Mrs Keeree sister of George Wal ner deceased and aunt of Miss Willie Mae Wallace. A sister of Mrs Kennee’s Mrs H C Dahl resides in Houston and a niece Ms Will Fort in Clifton.
The Reverend Dr John Russell Sc ore president of Southwestern University will preach at Clifton Methodist Church during the morning worship hour. He is a renowned preacher from Texas with prior pastorates in Fort Worth and Houston, and has traveled extensively in Britain Europe Asia and Africa. The crowd will welcome his rare appearance and likely fill the sanctuary.
Reverend Benedict Beek asked this week for notices of Sunday worship at St Pauls Lutheran Church near Clifton Sunday morning and at St James Lutheran Church near Moshéh Sunday afternoon. Sunday School times and service details are printed in this issue.
