Whitley Home and Auto Destroyed by Fire
Fire destroyed the brick and frame home of W. T. Whitley Jr. several miles west of Clifton Sunday afternoon, along with a new car parked nearby. Firefighters kept the blaze from a barn and pasture, but the house and car were beyond saving. The family was away in a pickup when they spotted the fire. Cause under investigation. Clifton Fire Chief warned residents to avoid carelessness as fall winds dry grass and weeds.
