Norwegians Tour Clifton Texas in Welcome Program

About 90 Norwegian tourists toured Bosque County Clifton in a welcome series led by NST president Carl W. W. Sorenson. Mayor Jim B. Smith proclaimed Norwegian American Days and unveiled a Cleng Peerson Memorial Highway marker. They visited Norse sites, churches, and museums and enjoyed a Texas barbecue dinner hosted by the Clifton Chamber of Commerce.

McGregor Bulldogs jumped to a 35 point first half lead as Clifton fumbled three times and Cubs offense struggled. Sammy Wells scored on a Cubs keeper and a late Horak to Raines 35 yard pass set Clifton’s second TD as Chicago side fought back with two fourth quarter scores.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports about 2.9 million workers held two or more jobs in May 1975, roughly the same as the prior May. Men at 5.8 percent far exceed women at 2.9 percent, with whites higher than blacks for multiple jobholding though a larger share of Black moonlighters held second jobs.
