Obituary for Jim W Parks born January 28 1864 on Parks Ranch Clifton Texas. Native of Clifton he pursued ranching in Texas and later settled with family in Fort Worth and Midland. Survived by wife Monte Parks daughter Jay Kern Roy Parks and siblings with three grandsons serving in the U S Navy. Funeral held October 18 at Osbal Methodist Church. Interment Clifton Cemetery.

The Bosque County unit of the Texas State Teachers Association held a reorganization meeting on Tuesday October 16 with 72 attendees in the school cafeteria. Inquiries noted Meridian Clifton Cranfills Gap Valley Mills and Waldo Springs among represented schools, with Meridian Clifton Cranfills Gap and Valley Mills reported 100 percent in membership. A nominating committee proposed officers and the group aimed to mobilize all Bosque County teachers as active members.
Cpl W H Stoerner of Plainview Route 3 is serving in Germany with the United States occupation forces near Negstadt Bavaria. He landed in Normandy on D Day with the 867th Infantry 90th Division and served through Normandy Falaise Gap Mosel Saar Siegfried Line and the Bulge earning the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman Badge with five campaign stars. His parents are Mr and Mrs B Stoerner formerly lived near Clifton.
Joyle J Borchers is honorably discharged after ten months as a prisoner of war in Germany. He returns to the U S with his wife and young son, aided by his brother-in-law, and earned Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters and other honors. He plans a fruit industry trip to the Lower Rio Grande Valley and was liberated April 29, 1945.
