Cubs Fall Short as Buckaroos Edge JV in Final Seconds
The Breckenridge Buckaroos edged the Cubs 26-22 in a tight junior varsity clash. Key drives and a late Cubs pass fell just short as penalties and missed calls echoed after a hard fought four quarters. The Cubs, led by Zach Thiele, erased an early 14-8 deficit, briefly led 22-20, but Buckaroos broke through with 8 seconds left for the win. Clifton’s Brandon Borom returned a kickoff for a Cubs TD and Thiele added two TD runs and a conversion before the final heartbreak. The Cubs host Eastland next Thursday at Fastland Stadium.
