Contract Let for New FM Pavement to Clifton High School
Texas Highway Commission awarded a project in the Waco district under District Engineer Brooks Evans. Zack Burkett Co. of Graham won the contract for grading, structures, base and surfacing on 1.2 miles of Farm to Market 3220 and 3221 in Bosque County with a low bid of 72 847.54. The work runs from State Highway 6 north of Clifton to FM 1991 and is expected to take 75 working days under engineer Thomas H. Ralph of Clifton.

Clifton Hosts Barbecue For Midwestern Industrialist
As a Clifton Chamber director I helped host a barbecue for a midwestern industrialist at the J B Darden farm Tuesday night. If the firm locates here it could create 30 to 40 local jobs and involve a plant now in a town similar to Clifton. The visitor favors a small town site and mainly serves Texas and southwest markets, with a Waco firm among large customers. Local aides from Waco assisted in arranging the visit and influencing the prospect.

Five Hurt in Two Clifton Wrecks Over Weekend
Two-vehicle crashes injure five people in Clifton during the first two days of the week. The first wreck occurred Sunday at 3 45 p m at the SH 6 and FM 219 intersection. Clifton Police Chief Homer Waller investigated both incidents. Joe Anderson, 23, of Rt 1 Clifton, was among the injured.
