New Chapel Dedicated at Clifton Sunset Home
At Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home the new chapel was dedicated on Sunday October 1 amid the seventh anniversary observance. About 600 attendees heard a program including organ music by Mirian Thompson and services led by Pastor Robert L Otterstad of First Lutheran Church Waco with contributions from Rev Iver Haugen of St Olaf Crawfills Gap and the Clifton area Ladies’ Sextette.

Clifton Boy Attends 1961 World Series Games
Gary Anz eleven year old son of Mr and Mrs Harold Anz of Clifton left Dallas by plane for New York City to attend the first baseball games of the 1961 World Series between the Yankees and Reds. His travel and stay expenses were paid by Carl Olsen of Houston a Clifton native who formerly played with the Yankees. The selection was supervised by the local Junior Chamber of Commerce and team managers with two drawings held to choose the team and the boy from deserving youths.

Barney Chapman Dies In Fort Worth
Barney Chapman a well known Bosque County rancher and Fort Worth businessman died Thursday night in a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at Central Christian Church in Fort Worth with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Survivors include his wife Edythe three sons a sister three brothers and two grandchildren. He operated a ranch between Valley Mills and China Spring and was active in the wholesale meat industry.

Bosque County Commissioners Court approved a 282,730.06 budget for 1962, down from 385,824.00 in 1961. The levy uses 80 cents per $100 valuation on an assessed value around 13.43 million, with total taxes expected at 107,520.00 and 95.5 percent collected this year. New Guardian Named for Rob ert Dunn After Carla Tragedy
Angleton 15 year old Robert Dunn, survivor of Hurricane Carla which claimed eleven relatives, will be raised by new guardians Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Swanson of Angleton. He has lived with the Swansons since the storm week when his parents and many relatives died. Bosque County Rural Letter Carriers Local held a meeting at Charlie's Cafe in Scinion with visitors from Oakwood Midlothian Godley Iredell Valley Mills Morgan and Meridian. Clifton auction reports steady cattle market and mixed prices
Thursday prices from Clifton show eggs at 37 cents per dozen for large, 25 cents for medium and large, 14 to 15 cents for various eggs, and cream at 40 cents per pound. Grain includes oats 64 cents per bushel, milling wheat 1.80, wheat 1.50, barley 82 cents, and yellow corn 1.10 per bushel. About 675 cattle were offered Wednesday, with the market steady to last week.
