The Post Office Department will assign numbers to rural boxes starting at one on each route. Boxes must be safe weatherproof and authorized. Patrons must display the number clearly on the outside. Effective October 1 on old routes. new routes get 60 days to comply. Patrons will be notified of their assigned number.
