In Stamford Connecticut a man Jee held two soldiers and their wives for allegedly leaving a trail of worthless checks across the country over the past ten weeks. The four were captured after the two women tried to cash checks at a jewelry store. They led police to the soldiers who were in a motion picture show. Names include Private Melvin L. Meinsene and his wife Doris of Kansas City Missouri and Private Charles H. Williams and his wife Dorothy of Kansas City Missouri. Both couples are AWOL from Camp Maxie Texas. police say they stole a car in Fort Worth drove to San Francisco and then across the country leaving bad checks in Los Angeles Cleveland and Chicago among other places.
A.J. Rejerson and Chris Strand with Mrs Strand, Frigidaire dealers in Clifton, arrival from a Fort Worth conference announced electric ranges and refrigerators are in mass production at the Frigidaire plant. War Production Board rulings lifted restraints on sale, with displays planned at Clifton Howe and Auto Supply. Refrigerators remain in government stockpile with no release date. Strand noted the sample products were bright and well made and Dayton facilities will soon allow broad purchase of Frigidaire items.
