Storm damages tabernacle and church in chapel community
A destructive storm Tuesday afternoon struck the Chapel community, demolishing the tabernacle built in 1900 and heavily damaging the local church, with insurance covering the church damage. Witnesses described a black cloud descending as a whirl spinning debris across the church yard. The event follows a long history of religious gatherings at the site led by Rev. W. J. Mayhew and Rev. C High Tower.
