A Bosque County message urges optimism about a favorable farm year. It notes lower cotton prices due to the European war but predicts higher overall income from crops and livestock including wheat corn oats barley hay and livestock. It encourages farmers to stay hopeful amid adverse conditions.
Mrs A R Ellis wife of A R Ellis died at her East Meridian home last Saturday at dawn. Funeral at Meridian Baptist Church Sunday at 2 30 p m with burial in Meridian Cemetery. She leaves a husband two daughters Mina and Ortis Ellis and son and several siblings. The notice notes long illness two years and strong faith, with relatives visiting from Ambrose Cleburne and Walnut Springs. The Meridian District Court report follows with a not guilty verdict in State vs John Bryan for murder and various land transactions recorded.
J Aye of Bowie Louisiana set a world speed record in shorthand after only three weeks at Tyler Commercial College Tyler Texas. He read a 150 word per minute speech for five minutes in court reporting and typed the transcription at 100 percent. Webb Williamson of Cincinnati Ohio previously held the record with Byrne Simplified Shorthand. Aye is nineteen and viewed as a promising future reporter.
In a Monday election voters approved five thousand additional school bonds for finishing the new building furnishing the auditorium and improving the grounds. Thirty six ballots were cast with thirty two in favor and four against. The measure aims to complete the public school which serves as the foundation for local children’s education.
