Heart O' Texas Fair Opens Oct 6 in Waco
The Heart O' Texas Fair and Rodeo in Waco runs six days from October 6 to 11. Rodeo guest star Doug McClure arrives Monday, with stock from XS Banca in Austin due Friday. Gene Ledel's carnival moves from Lubbock, and booths for food and wares fill the grounds. Exhibits are sold out and ticket sales rapid at Bosque Blvd and Fourth & Washington offices.

Lieutenant Golden Completes Air Defense Course
Second Lieutenant Jerry W. Golden, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Golden of Clifton Texas, completed a nine week air defense artillery officer qualification course at the U S Army Air Defense School Ft Bliss Texas. The training covered Nike Hercules Hawk Red eye and Chaparral missiles and automatic weapon systems including twin 40 mm, .50 caliber machine guns and the Vulcan system.

Dr Ernc J Dahl native of Clifton rises from dean of the College of Liberal Arts to vice president for academic affairs at Wittenberg University. He will supervise the Liberal Arts Music and Community Education faculties. Dahl, a Luther College and Luther Theological Seminary alumnus, earned a PhD from Durham University and has served as TLC dean. A public SSA meeting with Robert D Barnes Jr is planned for October 6 1970 in City Hall Dining Room.
