The Clifton Lions Club held a meeting with members including Roberts Gilbraath Treverly Heath and Hardwick. They addressed finance reports, club cooperation, and draft statistics for Bosque County with 1 575 men and women in World War II and 65 still serving.

Revival Services Conclude Next Sunday Night

Mrs. Dave Helton Dies Here in Clifton in 1946

Mrs. Dave Helton born December 4 1887 in Bell County Texas died at home in Clifton November 26 1946 age 58 years 11 months 21 days. She married James David Helton June 19 1910 and had nine children eight living Velma Edgar Elbert Burrell David Gereland Lucie Kathryn. The couple moved to Bosque County after marriage and she joined Clifton Baptist Church serving the Lord. Surviving sons Edgar Elbert Bar tall Garland and David and daughters Mrs William H Winters Mrs Thomas Kimball and Mrs Robert L of Bill Antonia plus brothers Dan and Robert Snodgrass of California.

Clifton College Cowboys open basketball practice

Clifton College Cowboys launched workouts with 30 men and many girls, aiming for a stronger showing in the Junior College Conference after finishing fourth last season. Clifton High faces rebuilding as two lettermen back

Clifton High School's basketball team will be rebuilt with only two lettermen returning from last year. Coach Arthur Bronstad announced 27 men showed up for the first practice as Clifton begins district play with Gateville McGregor Itues Want and La Vaga starting January 10. The district tournament will be in McGregor around January 15. The winner faces the top regular-season team. Bosque County rivals are scheduled, with games at 7 80 and tickets 15 cents.

Wieses Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1946

W C and Mathilda Wiese of Cranfill Gap celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Monday November 18 1946 at 11:00 am with about 100 relatives and friends. The day included church service at the Arnival Lutheran Church and an open house buffet dinner at the church parlors followed by a family reception at their home. They were married November 10 1896 in Prairie Hill Texas and have 13 children and 24 grandchildren with many spouses listed among the extended family.

Youth Escaped Waco Jail Caught in Clifton

One of two teenage escapees from the McLennan jail was captured at the Cliftex Theatre in Clifton after police received tips. The other boy, seen bicycle riding near Basin, was found heading toward Waco. They had escaped by prying their cell and stole two bicycles, goods, and a pistol. one was a Gatesville Reform School parolee linked to a dozen Waco burglaries in two months.
