Violence and pursuit after Texas gun incident in 1876
Text recounts a shooting near Jordan where Galloway was fatally wounded by Jordan during a dispute over a mare. Whitley ferried the mare to the Jordan home, misunderstandings ensued, a chase followed, and Jordan eluded capture after a night ride. The narrative shifts to later lore including political opinion, a Clifton wedding, and a note on Austrian meat science and ancient Vienna digs.
