A garbled local column recalls Clifton life with notes on traffic, federal aid, and home improvements. It highlights railylines or road work, mentions the Armistice observance, and reflects on community pride, industry, and a Methodist Church pastor Hayden Edwards. It also references automobile price shifts and local sports talk about Baylor Texas and SMU.
A detailed wedding event at Clifton features a ceremony presided by Mrs. Maynicorite Brown, guests registering in a guest book, and a dining room luncheon served by Mina Hastings and Bernt Hertelson. The program includes a clarinet duet and vocal numbers, followed by a three tier cake. Numerous relatives and out-of-town guests attend, with mentions of various families and a note on Grandpa Hyde's serious health condition.
The Current Topic Club hosted by Mrs A J Donald and Mrs Vernon Lockwell held a Halloween party at Edgewood on Tuesday. Guests enjoyed a fall decorred table with fruit, pimiento cheese sandwiches, pickles, chips, cookies, and coffee. Prizes included salt and pepper shakers. The Norse School notes report fall activities, a field trip to the creek with roasted marshmallows, and the Norse 48 Club meeting with a County Agent talk on larger potato yields. The Norse Literary Society is slated to meet November 10 1939 with an open invitation for visitors.
