Hand Amputation After Saw Accident at Norse Gin
Last Tuesday morning H C Dahl of Dahl Brothers gin at Norse suffered a severe hand injury when his right hand was caught in the gin saws. Alf Canuteson transported him to town for emergency care where Dr Moore and Dr Garputenter applied a temporary dressing. By noon, Dr A Moore and Dr S Panton performed an amputation of the hand save the thumb and forefinger, hoping to save some function. The incident marks a recurring accident for Hendrick’s band, last seen with a steam wood saw in the area a year ago.

Hallowe'en Social at First Presbyterian Townsland
A Halloween social hosted by the First Presbyterian church Ladies Aid Society took place Monday night at the Townsend home. Guests wore costumes including witches and hobgoblins, enjoyed games like bobbing for apples and a blindfold drawing contest, and explored fortune telling in a chamber before a broom parade to the kitchen. Refreshments of pumpkin pie gingerbread and silk were served as merriment and free-will offerings marked the evening.

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Chapel Dedication in Dallas
A delegation of about twenty from Clifton and the Norse community attended the Dallas dedication of the Trinity English Lutheran Chapel. Rev P F Thorson gave a dedicatory sermon in the morning and Rev P A Stadtman of Riesel delivered a second at night. The event coincided with the 1517 start of the Reformation by Dr Martin Luther. The Dallas English Lutheran Congregation, organized eleven months ago, is self sustaining under Pastor A B Ranb who previously visited Clifton. The chapel seats about 1800 and stands on two corner lots at Poriene avenue and Mayes.
