Family and friends visit in San Diego and Valley
A fragmented local note describes families visiting relatives in San Diego and Valley Mill, with references to workers in California defense plants, a McNeill Drug opening nearby, and a break in at the shop with forced entry. The garbled text mentions Mitchell Mano, Mrs Maxie, Mrs Bowell, Mrs Barnett, and others as part of the scene.

Try A Tub Garden In Hot Texan Weather
Alma Miller, County Home Demonstration Agent, explains a tub garden as a way to grow vegetables in extreme heat. Use an old tub or multiple five gallon containers sunk into the ground, filled with manure and soil, and irrigate through the tub. Plant tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, and cantaloupes, with weed control, shade, and windbreak for best results.
