Local Game Biologists Attend Del Rio Staff Meeting
Leslie Carruth and Joe Stevens of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department attended a Del Rio staff meeting of professional biologists. Papers covered deer habitat, duck banding with helicopters, mourning dove research, exotic birds, wild turkey studies, and park interpretation. A spring turkey season in Kerr County drew strong landowner leases of 50 to 100 dollars per bird and hunters achieved many successful hunts. A field trip to Amistad Dam and Reservoir highlighted a 70 000 acre lake with 547 miles of shoreline. water was clear and cold and fishing was fair but expected to improve, making the area a popular future recreation site.

Hans Kalschever Cited For Outstanding Service
Hans Kalschever of Clifton Texas was cited at the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counsellors annual convention in Chicago on May 8 for outstanding service. He represents Lutheran Brotherhood Life and Health Insurance Society and received a Quality Service certificate for over one million dollars in life sales and more than 90 percent persistency in 1969. He completed sound training, passed two exams, and has served as a regional representative since 1963.
