A long list of relatives from Hermleigh Stamford Abilene and Fort Worth gathered for celebrations and visits. Friends and neighbors attended church events and a Troll-Ber-Velace wedding in Ducat town. Families shared news of recoveries, travels, and jovial reunions across the region.
Aiintin May 9 Needy old persons in Texte will have to wait until July for pension checks. Orville B Earpantey, pension director, said June payments planned but July 1 as start date with about 65 000 qualified. some checks reach $15 maximum. Total applications about 21 000.. meeting of Parent Resolution set for May 20.
The county announces that May 23 is the final date to sign work sheets for the new County Consor Program. Due to delays in applications and work sheet processing, two more weeks are needed. starting May 18, applications are accepted at the Meridian county office. Mrs Claire Nichole and her mother Mrs J Potl visit Clifton after a stay in Stayford.
Tom Parks of Gatesville local church was honored by the Gatesville District Conference for election to lead the Gatesville delegation at the Central Texas Annual Conference session to meet Houston in November. The Clifton Church chair blocked a planned concert, drawing praise for the singers. The conference closes May 10 with plans set for next year’s meeting site.
Barbara Jean Kunkel died peacefully after a brief illness. The obituary notes her faith, guardianship by Baylor, and her hope of heaven. It mentions her passing on the 30th of Tone 14 and honors her as a beloved family member.
Clifton College and Glifton High School announce a busy May 1986 schedule. Ju nior Senior party Friday evening May 23, Alumni Day May 28 with a fund banquet and Alumni vs Clifton College football game. Baccalaureate May 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Graduation exercises May 30 8 p.m. in the College auditorium with speaker Rev. W J Mankestai and valedictorian Junie Polk. Summer school to follow under Mrs Bettin.
Washington May 10 Definite predictions that congress would close its work by June 1 and more likely by June 6 were made by Senator Robinson Democratic Leader The Republican National Convention meets in Cleveland on Tuesday June Dated remarks reflect a period draft spelling errors but indicate adjournment timing and convention schedules.
A committee selecting exhibits for the Centennial Dallas display honored three Bosque home demonstration club women. A jar of nap bean from John Cummings Mosheim Hy Club earned praise for full pack and uniform pods. A quart of peaches by Mrs John McKinney Moubaim A D Club impressed with neat, overlapping layers, clear juice, and good color.
Beaumont lawyer John T. Kitching, about 49, died when his car and a truck collided on a highway after leaving a hearing at Awe fin oil field. Survived by his widow and parents, the prominent former Basque citizen had long been a partner in Beaumont and studied at Vale paraisa university in Indiana.
The Lions Club held its regular luncheon with plans for a Ladies Night event two weeks later. Guests included Hobart Powell and M. G. Wagner among others, and Rev Hayden Edwante introduced his son Hayden Jr. Good roads progress and livestock exhibit housing plans for the Clifton fair were discussed, with a committee to be appointed to advance the project if weather permits an outdoor meeting at City Park or City Hall.
Senator Connally to deliver the commencement address at Baylor University with plans announced for the 8 May event. Local officials note expected attendance by graduates and dignitaries as part of the university exercises.
Special correspondent Mrs Geo P Robertson- in via ter von- Fort Worth week. Many visitors and residents, including Ms Doty Whitaan Steckenridge and Mrs Joe Lomax of Fort Worth, visited kin. Local trips include Valley Mills and Waxahachie. W. A. Shotner Temple ran for State Senator, Minnie Fitzhugh with music class at Valley, PTA meeting, and Methodist Church members continuing on last page.
Miss Frances Bertelsen daughter of Mr and Mrs Bertelzen married Mr Leroy Troll last Sunday May 1 at St Olaf Lutheran Church Cranfills Gap Texas. Relatives and friends attended the ceremony with attendants and sisters of the brides in formal attire as the organist played the wedding march and guests enjoyed a reception following the ceremony.
