A large live oak in Pool Park near Clifton marks Bosque County’s first election held October 7, 1854. The Old Settlers Association will place a Texas granite monument funded by Tom M. Pool’s estate, with officers named at the time to be carved on the stone. The park will host annual gatherings, and a fence will be erected to beautify the site on Meridian Highway.
Hillsboro May 10 Nine years after W J Inmon of Hillsboro misplaced his watch on a farm west of Aquilla, Tracy T Ratliff found the timepiece while plowing the field. He recovered the watch and returned it to its owner. the hands were a bit rusty but the watch otherwise stayed intact.
St Olaf Lutheran Church announces a Norwegian language service at the Rock church next Sunday at 10 30. A long service will be given by the junior choir Sunday evening at the Brick church. The South Ladies Society meets at Clara Jenson s next Wednesday afternoon. Confirmants now meet two or three times weekly. Sunday School is each Sunday at 9 30 with Pastor J A Urnes.
