Ex army men under 36 with one year or more in the Regular Army are eligible for the Regular Army Reserve per Colonel J A Moxs of Dallas District Recruiting Officer. Reserve members receive $82 monthly on inactive status plus $9 more per month for each month served. active duty would cap additional pay at $180. Austin May 7 A 3 percent increase in the average old age pension for May was announced by the public welfare department. The number of pensioners defined slightly. Checks averaging $10.01 will be mailed to 119,216 pensioners, compared with 119,949 in April. All May checks are expected to reach recipients by May 20.

Joe Hyde Home Destroyed By Fire
Two story house of Mr and Mrs Joe Hyde and all household effects were destroyed by a blaze on the home premises. Fire appeared to start on the front porch near wiring entering the building possibly due to faulty wiring. The home and contents were insured though perhaps only partially.
