Margie Louise Bertelsen arrives home after two and a half years with the American Red Cross. She served near Frankfurt and in Germany with Allied troops and held a recreation director post. Born in Canyon Falls Gap, she studied at Clifton Junior College and Baylor University, and taught at a local high school before joining service. She is welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Bertelsen at Frederick’s Place Worth.
Dr A Brown born in Atoka Oklahoma is a married father of two young boys. He attended Clifton and Duncan and served twenty years in the Navy. While stationed at Mare Island he preached for the Church of Christ in Napa California. He travels weekly to deliver sermons at the Clifton church.
In Clifton the county fair will be hosted with committees named including Mrs Othe Seren supervising women’s week and Mrs Jac obson handling publicity. The selection follows efforts by the agricultural nine ent and site committee to choose the best venue.
Mrs. Mire Harris of Valley Mills dies on March 12 after a long illness. She grew up as Datine Camdy Sens and married Richard Harris. Survived by one daughter Dorothy and several half-siblings, with a funeral at Valley Mills attended by numerous relatives and friends.
In a tight matchup at Katy Park on a misty afternoon, Waco High edged by the CATs 7 to 6. Pitcher Navarro and hitter Josten led the late rally, while Katy Park's fielding woes helped Texas area teams mount scoring chances.

Work began this week on a vocational Agriculture and GI training building at Clifton Public School. The concrete footing is poured, the 144 by 88 foot main hall includes a 9 by 36 wing, and the project is led by W Berry with Ernest Landgrat as foreman. A large room with lockers and a shop area will support cabinet, woodwork, and machine work, with a great room and entry doors. Completion targeted by July 4 for the shop course to commence, with further work after.
The central Texas district track meet at City Park in Clifton features ten teams led by defending champion Valley Mills. About 150 boys enter events with many contenders named from Morgansl yrook Cranula Gap Glen Rose Valley Bullay Meridian Koppert and Mosheth. Finals set Friday night at 7 o clock. Clifton will not compete in this invitational class A meet next weekend.
A. C Grimland marked a 60th birthday on March 17 1948 with friends gathering at the home of Mr and Mrs Hen Rhodes to honor him. Guests shared stories sang and listened as old jokes were recalled while a large eighty candle cake stood as a centerpiece.
Revival services at the Methods Church will be held from Sunday March 25 to Sunday April 4 conducted by Rev L Stanley Williams of the First Methodist Church of Haocloa.
