Sammie Lynn Zander won first place with Mexican peach salad and Lois Nell Lammert took second with apple refrigerator pudding in the 4 H Dairy Foods Contest at Meridian High School. Fifty Bosque County 4 H participants attended. winners advance to district eliminations at Tarleton College in Stephenville on April 14.

Longtime Clifton resident Mrs. J. E. Love dies at 80
Mrs. J. E. Love aged 80 years four months twelve days died about 4:00 a.m. Sunday March 18 at the home of her son Edwin Love in Haddonfield New Jersey. She and her husband lived in Clifton until his death in 1950 and she had lived with Edwin Love since then. Born November 6 1875 at Salado she was daughter of A. G. and Emily Griffith and married Joseph Edwin Love on March 10 1898. She taught school in Nolanville and Salado and held church and civic roles throughout Texas segments of her life.

Mexican Hangs Self in County Jail Cell
Cruz Elisondo of Blum who was jailed in Meridian for drunk and disorderly conduct at a Morgan area dance hall was found hanged in his cell about 7:00 a.m. Sunday. A companion in an adjoining cell woke him and raised the alarm. It was believed Elisondo had been dead about six hours. A bedding strip tied around his neck attached to the cell ceiling. No charges had been filed.

Busy Bee Show Raises Funds for Crippled Children
Busy Bee Home Demonstration Club in Clifton netted 81.85 from the Homefolks Show at Bettis Auditorium. A $40.90 check will be mailed to the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville for a mimeograph machine. Gloria Spitzer was crowned Queen Bee with top票, later invited to appear on Homefolks TV. The Rocket Squad Band won a Talent Round-Up contest and will appear on TV alongside other participants.

Bosque County residents raised 2618.65 for the March of Dimes and Red Cross in 1956. Net after expenses stood at 2443.10 with Mothers' March among the most successful methods. Clifton led with 556.21 and nine towns reported contributions, still incomplete as more funds are expected.

Mrs Dona Bishop aged 76 died March 18 1956 at her son Marshall Burns home in Clifton. Funeral March 20 at Clifton Funeral Chapel with Rev W G Etheredge of First Baptist Clifton officiating. burial at Clifton Cemetery. Survivors: two daughters Virginia Lyon and Pollie Shamburger, one son Marshall Burns, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. She was born March 12 1880 between Clifton and Meridian, lived in Bosque County, married Charlie Pledger in 1901 and later Marshall Burns, widow of Willie Bishop. Out-of-town mourners listed. Clifton Church of Christ formed 1885. uninterrupted since.

Cub Track Team Rounds Into Shape for District Meet
Clifton High School track athletes sharpen for the district meet on April 7 in Glen Rose. March 17 at Glen Rose Claud Hardie won the mile, Joe Richards took second in the low hurdles, John Phil Gilliam fourth in the high hurdles, and the mile relay team placed second. On March 21 Clifton led with 36 percent, Midway 26 percent, as Bob Lane and R C Spitzer tied for first in the 100 yard dash, Cody and Richards also tying in sprints, and Clifton won the mile and 440 yard relays. March 24 the Cub squad will send 15 men to Tarleton Relays in Stephenville. The Cubs host a track meet the following week with 25 invited schools.
