Bekken Dies Suddenly Near Clifton at 57
John G. Bekken, 57, longtime Clifton area resident later of Waco, died suddenly last Saturday afternoon near Wa-Co from a heart attack while out with family. Survived by wife, daughter Mex Raymond Ford Jr, two sons John G Bekken Jr and Curtis Bekken of Waco, a brother Oliver, three sisters Mrs J H Bekken, Mrs J A Nelwa, and Mex 0 K Snell. Funeral services held Monday at Wilkerson Hutch Shapes at 10:80 with interment in Clifton cemetery. Pallbearers listed from local firms McKendon Hardware and Wigginbotham Pearlaten Hardware.

The Texas Circuit of the Norwegian Lutheran Church gathered at St. Olaf Lutheran Church Cranfills Gap over Sunday Monday and Tuesday March 1940. Rev N A Larsen opened with a sermon and Dr N A Larsen led the theme from First Corinthians. Revs P E Thorson J Ne Quello T Now J Aakaland Fen Holm and A N Nelson spoke. business sessions followed with reports and election of officers. The LSA secretary spoke on student work and twenty five dollars was donated to Lutheran student outreach. A joint Ladies' Aide meeting occurred Monday evening with inspiring remarks.
