Clifton to Hold Local Election for City Council
Clifton will hold a May 8 election to fill three Clifton City Council seats with incumbents J.W. Thiele and Rick Wimmer plus Phillip Ramirez and David Anderson running. Incumbent Leslie Burk did not seek re election. The Clifton Independent School District won’t have a May 8 election as two trustee seats have only two candidates, John Erickson and Jan Woosley.

Clifton City Moves Toward EMS and Police Housing Project
Clifton City Council, in a twenty one item agenda, approved pursuing financial estimates for a new 74 by 64 foot building to house North Bosque EMS and the Clifton Police Department. The plan includes moving the Food Bank and Clothing Closet, possibly relocating to the old Depot, while the Food Bank and Clothes Closet would be housed in the former police station site. Mayor Pro Tem urged moving forward. A 4-H butterfly garden proposal from Amy Rose was approved for City Hall grounds.

CHS Band Earns Sweepstakes With Regional Ratings
Clifton High School Band earned a Sweepstakes by securing First Division ratings from all six judges at the UIL Region 8 Concert and Sightreading Contest on March 5. The program included Emblem of Unity and Cajun Folk Songs. Judge David Dunham praised control and technique despite a large ensemble. Band Director Keith Zuehlke lauded the yearlong teaching quality and performances.

County Firefighters report 2009 activity for 12 departments
Bosque County Commissioners hear annual 2009 fire season results from Gary Orfield. Twelve departments logged 865 calls, Clifton 46 city 71 rural 15 assists, Meridian 44 54 17, West Shore 190 rural. 430 non fire calls including 91 wrecks 19 hazardous 289 medicals 8 weather watches. Total volunteer turnout 4508 with Clifton 1168 Meridian 656 West Shore 876. Man hours 7974.85 and miles 22734.5. County funds totaled 50000 supporting gear and fundraisers.

Clifton City approves replat and variance after public hearing
The Clifton City Council approved the replat application for Cash and Conrad along with a variance after a short public hearing on Friday. Attorney Rick Bostwick opposed the replat, citing two small lots as nonconforming and unlawful, while cash and comments supported the action noting lot sizes. The council unanimously approved the variance and then the replat under city code section 77-60.

Bosque County Court Approves Lake Contract and Raises Salaries
During the regular session the Bosque County Commissioners Court approved a lake area contract with the U S Army Corps of Engineers. Deputy salaries rose from 54049.60 to 65800 as days worked increased from 147 to 180 and hours from 1760 to 1880. The court also filed a CE certificate for Jimmie Lou Lewis and approved final plats for China Springs Ranches Lots 103A 103B. A road base donation from Brandy Vance was approved.
