Laguna Park Community News Highlights Local Church Start
In October 1969 area Church of Christ members initiated a Laguna Park church with Dr. J. M. Buie aiding the project. Construction began in January 1970 and the congregation now numbers 35. Donations in memory of Burnett Packer funded the pulpit and communion table as services move to the Party House at Wilkins Harbour with dedication planned in the coming two months. West Shore Civic Improvement Association met March 6 at Bluebonnet Community Center, covering debris cleanup on FM 3118, a public ramp project, fire department efforts, street signs, and plans to sponsor a Lake Whitney Beauty Pageant contestant. A barbecue to welcome new members is planned, along with social visits from area residents. Appointments include Bluebonnet Art Craft Club on March 13 and Coon Creek Good Neighbors Club on March 12.
