Mrs. Hutchison Dies In Hospital
Mrs. Dave Stella Hutchison aged 76 years 7 months died Tuesday March 8 at Clifton hospital. She lived in Fairview Route 2 Valley Mills and was survived by four sons Rufus Robert Fred and Homer Hutchison and three daughters Ludie Cordie and Josie Sodich. Funeral services were held March 10 at the Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Reverend Marvin Ford with interment in Whitney Cemetery.

Harold Hill dies of heart attack in Clifton home
Harold Hill aged 66 of Clifton died at 1:45 PM on Tuesday March 8 from a heart attack suffered while mowing his lawn at 415 South Avenue E. He had been a longtime resident, employed by Humble Pipe Line for 31 years, and served as city plumbing inspector and on the Clifton City Council. He married Margaret Nelson in 1914 and had one daughter, Margaret, and a granddaughter, Margaret Ann Duncan. He was active in the Methodist Church, Clifton Masonic Lodge, and loved football and baseball. Funeral set for Friday at 3 PM at First Methodist Church Clifton.

Clifton Lions Club members sold mop and broom merchandise door to door Tuesday raising 843.50 for blind sponsored goods. Local money will support community programs while a top sales team led by J A Hyles and partners met high demand. Girl Scouts visited the club in a week marking Scout Week with pledges and a flag ceremony.

Cubs Enter Series Of Track Meets At Cotton Bowl Meet
Clifton High School Cubs travel to Taylor on Saturday March 12 for their first track meet of the season with about 15 athletes entered in all events except high jump pole vault and shot put. Approximately 25 teams compete in the Cotton Bowl Track Meet at Taylor as Clifton plans legs for 440 and mile relay teams and then moves to Cisco Stephenville and Glen Rose before the district meet on April 9.

Clifton FFA members traveled to Austin and San Angelo in early March earning $72.50 at Austin and $75 at San Angelo. The Austin team of Parks, Gloff, Solberg, and Larson placed ninth in livestock judging with 775 of 900 points among 62 teams. individual scores ranged 271 Parks to 256 Larson. San Angelo team, with Bob Lane replacing Solberg, finished sixth among 72 teams and scored 1206 of 1500 points. Austin prize winners included Bronstad’s champion Jersey bull earning $30, a Jersey heifer with sixth place and $7.50, Ludtke second place and $25, and Trotter Jr fifth with $10. Werner Philipp won first in heavyweight Angus bull, earning $75.
