In the April 1 1961 election six of nine county school districts feature candidate contests. Clifton Crawfills Gap Meridian Morgan Valley Mills Walnut Springs Mosheim Iredell Koppers districts list multiple nominees with two or more seats. Absentee voting begins March 13 and ballots are printed this week per County Judge J P Ward.

Clifton Future Farmers displayed three beef steers one beef heifer and one dairy heifer at the Houston Fat Stock Show. Larry Miles placed second with his Shorthorn heifer earning Reserve Champion. Erwin Dahl's Angus steer placed 22nd. Raimund Stacha had a Hereford steer that failed to place. David Gouldman's dairy heifer won red in Brown Swiss. Gouldman and Larry Pullin joined calf scramble. Gouldman won $200 to buy a calf for Houston next year.

Mrs. Kimbrough Dies In Fort Worth At 73
Mrs. Melia Kimbrough aged 73 of Valley Mills died in Fort Worth on Tuesday March 7 while visiting her daughter Mrs. George Hawkins. She was widow of H. A. Kimbrough and survived by a son, three daughters, a brother, a sister, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 9 at Fairview Baptist Church with interment in Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs Jorgenson Dies After Long Clifton Life
Mrs. Christine Nelson Jorgenson aged 80 years and 20 days died at 5 15 p m Friday March 3 at the Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home after heart attacks in 1955 56 and a final one at the Sunset Home on Tuesday morning. She was born February 13 1881 in Clifton and married Jorgen Gustav Jorgenson on December 31 1902. They raised nine children on a farm near Clifton and later moved to Clifton living at 915 West 11th Street until Mr Jorgenson’s death in 1955. Mrs Jorgenson moved to Sunset Home after her daughter Constance’s death in 1956. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church Norse and active in Trinity Lutheran Church after its formation in Clifton.
