Gi P L Downs 75 a Temple pioneer dies Saturday in Temple hospital after heart attack. He helped found a Texas bank, served on state experiment station boards, and held posts in the Pythian order, Texas Bankers Association, and civic groups. Survivors include his wife.
Lawrence County Agent says the county will form eleven community agricultural associations to implement a new program. Plans call for officers including president vice president and secretary treasurer. Meetings schedule across Meridian Clifton Walnut Springs Koppert Morgan and other communities to elect officers and begin countywide organization.
National Democratic chairman James A. Farley, speaking Thursday at a fraternity gathering, predicted President Roosevelt would win more electoral votes in 1980 than in 1932. He cited plans to secure victories in all states where needed, naming Pennsylvania and Massachusetts as examples, and noted preparations for the national convention and arrangements committee in Philadelphia.

Clifton Record notes the Clifton Cotton Warehouse Association sold the local warehouse to Texas Milling Company for 1200 in cash. The warehouse sits on Santa Fe Railway land and lease approval was pending. Shareholders planned to use sale proceeds for future Clifton public building, calling the price satisfactory.
R M Lane of Lanes Chapel community dies Feb 27 after six weeks of illness. Born 1880 in Termes tee, he moved to Texas in 1875 and lived in Rock Church and Lanes Chapel. Survived by his wife and eleven children, thirty-two grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. he joined the Methodists in youth and valued education for his children.
Meridan area notes Miss Ottilie Grinien and Miss Ore Shum wed in a county ceremony. The Bosque County posting covers visitors, school matters, and family interactions across Meridian, Clifton, Cranfill Gap, and nearby towns. Local officials update on a schoolhouse sale and a Wednesday interment in Meridian Cemetery.
First Lutheran Church of Waco calls Rev. Olsen, dean of religion at Waldorf College in Kovest City, to lead the church. He will arrive in early June, succeeding Rev. H. Quill who resigned last August after 21 years. Olsen, in his thirties, studied at Luther College and New York University and served in the New York district before becoming rector in a Brooklyn church. He and his wife will reside next door at 1008 Jefferson Street, with district Lutheran leader Dr. Larean presiding over the arrangement.
