County suit seeks recovery over county tax office fees
The petition filed in Bosque County District Court by County Attorney R F Cherry seeks judgment against former tax assessor D von Horn buck le and his bondmen Republic Underwriters for 18408.20 plus interest and costs alleged as overpaid fees for 1985 86 87 and 88. The suit also targets Pearl Benson and bondmen for WD total claimed Whiz 11 for sheriff fees during 1936 with interest and costs. The action questions if state fee laws allowed excess commissions and whether the 1937 amendment applied in Bosque County. Attorneys say a high court decision may be needed to settle if the fees exceeded legal amounts.
