The Neils Creek Summer Youth Baseball League enters the home stretch with high drama in Pee Wee and Freshman divisions. On Tuesday June 27 Meridian Reds beat Clifton Reds 15 11 to stay undefeated in Freshman play while Valley Mills edged Clifton Blacks 18 13. Clifton Blues topped Gap Lions 8 7 and Meridian Blues beat Meridian Reds 10 5. Upcoming games include Clifton Blues at Clifton Reds and Meridian Reds at Valley Mills.

Officers continue investigation into a June 10 Lake Whitney shooting that killed Bert Ray McGee, 63, with the autopsy report and ballistics tests still pending. Sheriff John Baxter said the case remains unresolved and no charges have been filed.
