Ole Martin Anderson Laid To Rest At Trinity Lutheran
Ole Martin Anderson longtime Clifton Texas resident died Wednesday night at the Scots’ and White Hospital in Lemma Texas after a illness leading to major surgery. Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. Born December 1, 1881 in Clifton to Andrew X. and Guosile Arterton, he worked at the Telephone Company in Dallas and later at the Solberg Gin before returning to Clifton to assist on the farm. He spent most of his life in the community, leaving only eighteen years elsewhere, and his wife Mrs. Anderson and son Martin were with him in his final days.

Death of Former Clifton Citizen Joe Loper
Joe Loper, about sixty, former Clifton merchant, died suddenly of a heart attack in Marlin last Monday evening after visiting Clifton over the weekend. He and his wife had lived in Port Arthur since leaving Clifton, building a large mercantile business, with a son Joe Loper Jr in the service. Funeral services were held at the family residence and Port Arthur Church, with interment there. The Record extends condolences to the bereaved wife and son.

Raymond Earl Ray Dies After Lingering Illness

Changes in gasoline eligibility for overtime service members and buyers

Servicemen home from overseas with temporary duty orders may obtain furlough gasoline rations by presenting orders and mileage forms to Local War Price and Rationing Boards. Previously, furlough or leave was needed for 30 gallons. Insurance adjusters may receive rations to inspect storm damaged crops. Preferred mileage will be issued to buyers traveling long distances to buy cattle, sheep, pulpwood, or processed goods, subject to grading and market availability.
