Local hospital expansion described with new delivery and operating rooms added. Plans include enlarging the kitchen, adding a climate system, cabinets, lockers, two halls, baths, and increasing overall space. Work began Monday, marking the fourth expansion by Drs Goodall and Witcher.
Local Hub members vote for a double elimination tennis event with a $1.00 pot. Entries due by July 3 with play beginning July 4. Trophies awarded and draws to be made from participant names.

Mr and Mrs Clar ence Colwick and son John of Starkville Mississippi recently visited Bir Colwick’s parents in Clifton and other relatives and friends. They traveled via plane to Love Field and planned to return to Mississippi where he would work at Mississippi State College.
Mrs Seljos resigns as Civil Defense chair for Clifton and adjacent communities and becomes chair of the Red Cross Service Group of Bonque County. A Friday June 27 meeting at City Hall dining room will plan Bonque County Blood Program participation. Two representatives from each church, school, club or organization are invited to attend.
The group held a business meeting presided by Mrs. &C. Johle and chose the Central Texas Fair exhibit theme Sewing Tools That Help You Do A Better Job. John Spitver reported on council affairs and major demonstrations for next year. The Epileptic Hospital at Abilene was to be remembered with a gift on June 28. Lannie J. Holley County Agent gave a talk and slides on Deperiey and Curtains. Refreshments followed.
Pumper Parks received a 50 year service pin at a special Masonic ceremony held at Clifton City Hall. The event featured Grand Lodge officials and fellow masons from Texas and Utah, with remarks praising Parks long service, dedication to new masons, and his World War II era record.
A Sunday afternoon trip sent Scouts and leaders to the Heart of Texas Scouts Camp Tahuaya across Bellon for a week of camping. Medical exams and swimming tests preceded activities as the group, including Owen David Jmingness and others, prepared for a routine schedule starting June 23.
Two small fires reported in the past week caused minimal damage. A washing machine fire at Jacob Dietker’s home on Thursday afternoon June 19 led to light damage, and an early Wednesday fire at Arthur Cash’s nearby house damaged furnishings and scorched walls. The fire was attributed to an electric fault and alarm activation helped limit damage.
