Sunday Sermon in a Wisconsin Country Church
In a small Wisconsin hamlet Brule a rural white church held a plain service led by a local white preacher. The congregation, gathered by farming neighbors, listened to a Bible reading and a sermon stressing the necessity of the gospel in every life. At service end the usual custom of escorting the preacher from the church was observed with Mr. Cook leading the procession.
