Rebuttal Sunday For Herbert Mueller Funeral

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Tent Church for Pvt. Herbert A. Mueller, killed in action in October 1944 in France. Mueller served with Company F, 141st Infantry Regiment, 36th Division and was born October 1 1916. He grew up near Sale View east of Jittan and finished at Airview School before helping on the family farm. His father died in 1929, after which Mueller managed the farm and volunteered for Army service in 1944, not expecting to return alive. His mother, Mrs. Anna Mueller, planned to carry on as he wished.

Mrs John Pederson Buried at Norse Lutheran Church

Funeral services for Mrs John Pederson were held Friday at Norse Lutheran Church Norse and her family home. The 85 year old immigrant from Norway who lived in Bhoque County for 70 years died June 10 after a long illness. She was born April 4 1863 in Lasiten Hiedemarken Norway and arrived in Texas with her husband in 184. Pederson was active in church work and contributed to the Our Bavios's Lutheran congregation. She married John Pederson September 26 1882 and they lived on the present homestead west of Cranfilte since 1886.

The same event noted a Clifton water rate increase set to take effect after meters are read on June 20, raising charges to 2.26 per thousand gallons and above, citing material and labor cost increases. The city council also accepted the resignation of Police Chief Waltmer Gulden, praising his work on parking.

Trucks Bring Gram Here From Oklahoma

Trucks from Oklahoma bring grain to Clifton via Texas Milling Company. The arrival includes 30,000 to 40,000 bushels, mostly from Oklahoma and nearby states. Unloading speeds improve, with Fort Worth waits of 24 to 26 hours reduced to three to four hours here. About half the wheat stored locally, the rest sold to Texas Milling, grain quality praised at 61 to 63 pounds per bushel, loads ranging 480 to 860 bushels.
