A fragmented recollection traces Comanche attacks near Chescer’s cabin and the Bosque river. Settlers lose horses, a cow house cave is used by natives, two riders disappear, and several men are killed or captured. The narrative ties to related frontier violence from Erath, Be County, and Dove Creek in 1863 64, with family rescues and ongoing fear.
The readable text shows a rough narrative of men and horses traveling, seeking water, and planning to return home to eat. They move toward a ravine and cave, with references to a Tudlan teat and a Hogger place, but many words are garbled, leaving the exact actions and location uncertain.
A garbled report mentions Colona Barry and Neon, with unclear names and actions. Several lines reference a White House style event, a Bend Agency, and local officials in Austin Throckmorton, Captain Jack Ci lok, and others, but most details are unreadable and no clear outcome or individuals can be identified. The text shows a chaotic, partial transcription with missing words and stray phrases.
Last week the Record received a card from Mrs. Herber H. Measley with updates. Tierbert Jr. and another child plan to drive to Elmore Ohio when school ends on Wednesday. Mr. Measley works as carpenter superintendent for Winston Bros on the Ski Turnpike and formerly lived in Clifton. The family’s Box 34 Woodville mailing address is listed, with reference to Whitney Dam and the coast.
