New Twice Weekly Garbage Schedule for Clifton
The City of Clifton announces a new twice weekly residential garbage pickup starting Monday June 5. Zones are defined west of Highway 6 and south of West 9th Street on Mondays and Thursdays. west of Highway 6 from West 9th Street to Stevens Motor on Tuesdays and Fridays. east of Highway 6 and the Santa Fe Railway on Wednesdays and Saturdays. City secretary E. B. Harris warns changes may occur after a trial period and asks residents to place trash accessibly in cans or tied in five foot bundles.

Clifton hosts its junior rodeo this Friday and Saturday with events for three age groups 12 and under 13 to 15 and 16 to 19. Boys compete in barrel racing pole bending flag races bareback riding bull riding calf roping and ribbon roping while girls enter barrel races pole bending flag races breakaway roping. Stock is supplied by J L Huffman of Waco and entries are due by 1 00 PM Friday June 2 with the secretary Paul Howard in Clifton Texas.

W B Fort 73, died Sunday May 28 at January Care Home Evant after heart attacks last weekend and in 1950 1960 health changes. He lived near Clifton most his life and worked on farms Texas Highway Department Clifton schools I M Solberg Gin. He married Addie Reeder in 1913, six daughters survived.

Tragedy in Bosque County Claims Two Mothers
A fatal car-truck crash near Circle at Meridian in Bosque County killed Mamie Olive Christian and Evelyn C. Michel both of Waco. Their daughter Nancy Carol Christian was seriously injured and airlifted to Providence Hospital in Waco after initial treatment. Mrs Christian and Mrs Michel were pronounced dead on arrival at Goodall and Witcher Clinic Hospital.

Bosque County bucked the statewide trend as Texas elected Republican John G. Tower to the U S Senate for the first time since the Civil War. In Bosque County William A. Blakley received 984 votes to Tower's 597 amid partial results showing Tower with a sizable statewide lead of about 7,124 votes.

Seniors at Clifton High School enjoyed a series of events before graduation led by Easter breakfast at First Baptist Church on March 25, a buffet supper at Trinity Lutheran on April 20, and a Cinderella themed Banquet Prom on April 26 hosted by the Junior Class. Homespun celebrations continued with family parties May 1 and 2, an After Senior Play gathering May 9, a May 10 Omenson home dance, a May 16 Meridian Lake wiener roast, and a May 19 Mothers Banquet at Charlie's Cafe with a starry theme commemorating the Class of 1961.
