Clifton Students Graduate From Baylor University

Russell V. Dorward and Margie Ruth Gilliam of Clifton earned Bachelor of Arts degrees at Baylor University in Waco during spring commencement on May 25. Dorward, son of M. D. and Mrs. Dorward, majored in journalism and minored in history. Mrs. Walter Prather Dies in Fort Worth at 75

Obituary details the life of Clifton resident Mrs. Lillian Brazzel Nichol Prather who died May 28 at St. Joseph's Hospital Fort Worth. She lived in Clifton over four decades, taught shorthand and typing, ran her late husband’s photography studio, and served as Clifton's first paid secretary and tax assessor collector. Funeral services were held May 30 at the Church of Christ Clifton. Interment followed in Clifton Cemetery.

Local man J. F. Williams dies after long illness

Funeral services were held for J. F. Williams aged 53 at Clifton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. E. Morton. Williams, of Star Route 1 Clifton, died May 25 at Clifton hospital after a lengthy illness. He leaves his wife Julia Taylor Williams a son John Taylor Williams two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. His hobbies included fishing and he was a 32nd degree Mason.

Death of Mrs Annie Canuteson at 81 in Clifton

Mrs. Annie Canuteson of 1203 West 5th Street Clifton died at 9:15 AM on Wednesday May 30 after two years of ill health. She suffered a heart condition with other complications. Funeral services were held May 31 at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev J E Morton. Interment followed in Clifton Cemetery. A full obituary appears next week.

Senior Class Trip to New Orleans 1962

Clifton High School senior class traveled May 17 to New Orleans with chaperones Mrs. Peacock Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Jameson. They toured the city by bus ferrying along the French Quarter, ante bellum homes and the Mississippi River bridge. The group stayed at Hotel New Orleans and rode The President steam boat.

Grain shows oats 75 cents a bushel and milling wheat 2.06 a bushel. Cattle: about 750 head sold with steady market. slaughter steers 24 to 25.50, yearlings 24 to 25.50, calves 21 to 25.75, cows 10 to 14.50.
