Live turtle found in wood after seventy years in water
Boston Massachusetts July 19 The Texas horned toad that lived for a quarter of a century in a block of wood was discovered when workmen cutting a large plank for reconstruction of the U S S Constitution in Charleston navy yard exposed the embedded animal. The turtle nose was damaged by the plane but it survived and was handed to John Lord in charge of the battleship restoration. A sword brought from Pensacola Florida had lain underwater for over seventy years. A camping party then described a family gathering on a Bongue Camp with many fish meals and watermelon provided by Mr Golden, followed by thanks to Mr Golden for use of his pasture.

Alvin Owsley in Democratic Primary Campaign
In a long political preview, Alvin Owsley is portrayed as a strong, pro farmer Democratic candidate with a record as a gallant former soldier. The piece contrasts him with other contenders under Governor Smith, noting his stance on liquor laws, farming prices, and prohibition enforcement. Moody's campaign also reports a likely decisive first primary win, hinting at a split field in Texas politics.
