Connally seeks Republican tariff change names in White House request
Washington July 20 Senator Tom Connally of Texas urged the United States Commission to supply the names of all Republican senators who have asked for increases in tariff rates under the flexible provision of the tariff law. He wants to know if any Republican colleagues pressed for higher duties on agricultural commodities to aid in debate on the tariff bill. The White House had previously denied requests for the names, as the coming tariff struggle looms.
