Clifton Public School Chooses New Teachers for 1946 47
Clifton Public School selectors meet Monday night and elect Curtis Pederton to teach high school commercial subjects and Miss Bertie Crowe to lead the elementary department. Pederton, a Texas graduate, is near a master’s degree in business administration, while Crowe, Baylor graduate, has teaching experience in Hico Albany and Terrell. The board also approves a cement sidewalk project along the east side of the main building from the primary entrance to the gymnasium area.

I Holy City Exhibit Shows Religious Relics
Dallas July 20 1936 a grand religious art display titled the Holy City showcases over 200 authentic shrines from the Holy Land at the Tenay Centennial Central-Expo. The centerpiece is an 8 foot mother of pearl cross assembled in Jerusalem in the eighteenth century. The crucifix portrays the fourteen Stations of the Cross with more than 16 000 mother of pearl pieces and took over ten years to complete. The Last Supper crafted by Martha uses colored mother of pearl to echo Leonardo da Vinci in minute detail and is over 200 years old with more than 3000 pieces. A series of 200 watercolors recounts Old and New Testament stories created on actual scenes from the Holy Land exhibit. The display, previously shown at the Century of Progress in Chicago, drew wide praise as a highlight of the pilgrimage.

Destructive Fire Destroys Cranfills Gap Variety Store
A fire at Cranfills Gap last Tuesday evening damaged E M Dunn’s Variety Store and nearby shops Olaf Johnson’s Grocery and A Rose’s Grocery. By 9:80 o’clock the stores and stock were destroyed though some stock was cached. The building housing the stores belonged to Fate Ammons. The origin of the fire remains unknown. All property was insured. Local area urged Meridian for quick emergency response.
