Family visits mark extended greetings in Cranford area

Local residents enjoyed a week long series of family visits with relatives in Cranford and surrounding communities. Notables included Mrs. Jim Wether and Mrs. Motto visiting from neighboring towns, while Mr. Feroperstas and others traveled from Dallas and Hillsboro to share time with kin.

Extension Clubs Of County Plan Picnic

Extension clubs of Bos ym County schedule a one day picnic at Clifton on July 28 with a short program by women and girls from the Farmers Short Course at A and M College. Activities include short plays, demonstrations, games, and a basket lunch provided for attendees.

Wittte-Christensen Nuptials Solemnized at St. Olaf’s Church Cranhile

The wedding of Clarice Wittte-Christensen second daughter of Mr and Mrs Pete L Christensen of Jonesboro to Bradley Witte son of Mr and Mrs Alvin Witte of Jonesboro was held Sunday evening June 26 1938 at St Olafs Church Cranhile Gep. The ceremony was performed by Dr B F Weldey of Clifton with bride’s brother Em fay Christensen giving her away. The bride wore a white gown with Queen Anne lace and a funeral veil, and attendants and organ music accompanied the processional and bride's march roots remain.

Joel Jorgenson Jeft to El Paso to represent Clifton Future Farmer Chapter at the state convention July 21 24 and to join the State FFA Band. A high placing in the high thirties could win a trip to Kam next October to perform with the FRA Cowboy Band at the National VFA Convention. About 800 delegates and visitors expected at El Paso with top vocational agriculture boys competing for a trophy for the host and for the first year FFA Chapter 1987 34. Clifton Lions Club backed the convention participation.

Wind Smites Clifton Negro School Building

A sudden windstorm damaged the Clifton Negro School, removing the roof from its two story rock building and scattering debris onto the highway. Power lines serving the Community Public Service Company were broken, briefly cutting electric service to residents before lines were restored. Repair costs are expected to run to several dollars for the Clifton School District.
