Cleburne July 14 a farmer living 20 miles southwest near Nemo is in serious condition at Meadow Lawn Sanitarium as the result of a shooting in a long running cattle feud. Berryman was charged with assault to murder. Pearce was driving home when he was struck and shot four times, two in the left cheek and one in the left arm. Pearce and his wife reported the assailant warned him before firing. The sheriff at Glen Rose investigated as the community heard of the incident amid local notices and a busy page featuring a tent show, a box supper, and a carnival schedule at Meridian.Gross School planned events and tire sales by Gilliam Motor Co were noted in the same column.

Mrs H H Baley dies after brief illness in Clifton
Mrs H L Baley died at her Clifton home early Monday after a short illness. Born in Alabama in 1889 she moved to Texas with her parents and later married H H Baley. The family lived near Glen Rose then Coryell County before settling in Clifton. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with Rev T G Story officiating, a large crowd attending. Interment was in Clifton Cemetery. The Record promises a fuller obituary later.

Mrs. Utto Pederson, age forty two, died at her Clifton home after a prolonged illness. Funeral services were held at the family residence and the Norse Lutheran Church with interment at the Norse Cemetery. The community extends sympathy to bereaved relatives and friends.

A Norway born immigrant, Ave Annie leon of Clifton, died July 1 1989 at her daughter Mrs Roddy and family home after weeks of illness. Funeral services were held at 10 00 from the residence and 10 0 at the Scandinavian Lutheran Church, burial in Cite Latbecna Cemetery. The deceased leaves a daughter Mrs Roddy and several grandchildren with many relatives and friends expressing sympathy.

Meridian highway remains in good condition aside from minor spots to fix. a new road will connect Black Stamp Valley to the Meridian route toward Fort Worth.
