Sam Houston and the Lone Star Love Triangle Revealed
Bartee Haile recounts the 1833 three way tie in Nacogdoches among Sam Houston Anna Raguet Irion. The love triangle centers on a teen bride and a physician, Houston's flirtations, a pivotal 1838 pledge, and the 1840 elopement of Anna and Dr. Robert Irion. Houston later married Margaret Lea, while Anna’s letters endured as a testament to the saga.
