Bosque County mourns the death of carpenter Robert Carpenter once of Clifton. He died at home on July 15 after long illness. Survived by widow Vine Tasne, children Amy and Amy Jr. and brothers and sisters. Funeral held at Ranger Methodist Church with Rev. A. T. B. Inglehart officiating. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

E R Lawrence, county agent of the A and M College Extension Service, notes that five producers around Meridian are growing turkeys with 18,000 birds this year. Flocks totals include Curtis Fort, Mayeld, Sweeney, Warrell, Bam Martin, and others, each with several thousand birds. At 18 pounds live weight and 4 times a year, potential proceeds exceed $70,000 for the group while numerous smaller flocks also contribute strong returns as sanitation programs improve health and profits.
Rationing of heating and cooking stoves using oil, wood, or gas for domestic use will start in mid August with certain exceptions. The order, originally set for June, details who may apply and how to seek replacement if a stove is worn out or needs updating before the amended ration takes effect.
